Congratulations on the 900th anniversary of commemorating the Holy King David

Congratulations on the 900th anniversary of commemorating the Holy King David. May the mighty King David shower his blessings upon all of Georgia! The Rector of the Academy, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze.

Ceremonial events took place at the National Defense Academy in honor of the commemoration of the Holy King David the Builder. The history of the National Defense Academy of Georgia is closely tied to the restoration of the nation's independence, and the Academy has navigated through many significant milestones since its inception.

On February 20, 2003, the Academy was named in honor of the Holy King David IV the Builder (Aghmashenebeli). The Academy's leadership paid tribute to the memory of King David IV by laying a wreath at his monument.

Notably, Metropolitan Andria of Gori and Athens conducted a divine service at the St. King David Aghmashenebeli Church, located at the base of the Academy. The service was attended by the Academy's leadership and personnel. Following the divine service, Metropolitan Andria bestowed blessings upon those present and sanctified the Academy's premises.

As part of the events, the Junkers of the Training Battalion of the Academy performed the play “David Aghmashenebeli,” which vividly reenacted crucial historical moments from that era.
