Junker Training Battalion

History of the Junker Training Battalion of the National Defense Academy

By the order of the Minister of Defense of Georgia of October 5, 2011, the Training Battalion of the National Defense Academy was established. The students of the four-year undergraduate officer training program were enrolled in the training battalion.

Based on the order of the Minister of Defense of Georgia of October 29, 2015, the training battalion was renamed the Junker Battalion. Students enrolled in the undergraduate programs have regained the historical status of "Junker".

In accordance with the order of the Minister of Defense of Georgia of July 26, 2020, the name of the training battalion was edited and established as The Junker Training Battalion.

 

The Main Functions of the Junker Training Battalion

  • Improving the quality of military education;
  • Upgrading the personal, moral, intellectual and professional level of the Junkers;
  • Intensive improvement of teaching and learning quality and bringing them in line with the requirements of the Defense Forces of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia;
  • Supporting the specialty chosen by the cadets and providing them with the necessary material and technical means;
  • Promoting the development of the educational and scientific process of the Academy;
  • Upgrading the professional level of officers and sergeants of the Junker Training Battalion.
