Types of distance learning
Synchronous learning
In the case of synchronous learning, the learning process takes place in real-time and requires communication between two people at the same time.
Live sessions in real-time, audio-video conferences, online chats, and surveys are used during the learning process.
Asynchronous learning
Online learning is available to the student at any time he/she wants. During asynchronous learning, events are time-independent. Online learning is available at the student's desired time.
Electronic manuals, blogs, video lesson recordings, discussion forums, e-mail, and webcasting are used during teaching.
Blended learning
Blended learning refers to the possibility of simultaneously using elements of synchronous and asynchronous learning.
Why Distance Learning?
Distance learning approaches
Self-regulated learning
During the learning process, students can access the materials through an online learning platform. Students are free to study according to their own schedule and determine teaching methods based on individual needs and interests.
Instructor involvement
Course planning and implementation are provided by the instructor and/or facilitator through the online learning platform.
Course students as well as facilitators and instructors have the opportunity to communicate using tools such as e-mail, discussion forums, chats, polls, program sharing, and audio and video conferencing.
