Minister of Defence hosted Davit Lortkipanidze at NDA

In the format of the Union-Friend of the Army the first meeting was held at the National Defence Academy. Minister of Defence and his Deputy Tamar Karosanidze hosted the Director of National Museum of Georgia Davit Lortkipanidze.

Director of the Museum delivered a lecture to the junkers on the theme “Georgia-the country of the first Europeans”. Minister thanked Mr. Lortkipanidze for an interesting narration. As  Mr. Alasania emphasized, the events of similar kind serve to build competitive armed forces.”It was a great honor for the NDA students and for me too to attend such an interesting lecture. National Museum and our organization have joint long-term plans. We really want to have intelligent military and literate youth in Georgia. Considering it, such course of lectures are very helpful for them in order to deepen the knowledge on science, our past, the motherland which must defended by them and sometime at the expense of their life. Thus, it is very good undertaking. Mr. Davit is a member of the Union-Friends of the Army, which was established on the Jubilee of Armed Forces on 30 April. Many other honored and distinguished public figures and artists will continue meetings at the NDA and in different units to facilitate closer relationship between the Georgian military and civil society.

Following the lecture, General Director of the Museum donated the book “Georgian Medieval Religious Art in the Georgian National Museum”, catalogues and journals to the NDA library.

Today, Davit Lortkipanidze took a tour of Academy infrastructure and curriculum.

Within the Union –Friends of the Army, similar events are frequently organized which aims to strengthen bonds between the Georgian armed forces and the community as well as to improve the prestige of the army. In future it is also planned to invite well-known and respected public figures to the military institution and different military units to deliver lectures there.
