Tornike Kimeridze, assistant professor of the National Defence Academy, was on a scientific visit to Japan, the purpose of which was to further develop scientific research activities in the Academy and deepen cooperation with different countries.

The Japanese government organized the visit in November of this year, where Tornike Kimeridze met with official representatives of the Japanese government, scientists, researchers, and experts. He also toured leading institutions in the field of science and technology, such as the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, the Japan Atomic Energy Agency, and the National Institutes of Quantum Science and Technology.

The winners of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) award were invited to an official visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, where they met with the Director General of the Department of Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science, Mr. Katsuro Kitagawa, Assistant Minister, ISTC Governing Council Member and Director of International Scientific Cooperation of the Ministry, Mr. Katsutoshi Ishikawa and Mr. Tatsuya Kasahara, Deputy Director of International Scientific Cooperation of the Ministry.

Senior Project Manager and Senior Advisor to the Executive Director Mr. Aydin Turebaev and Project Officer Ms. Aizada Turekulova participated in the meetings from the Center for International Science and Technology.

“During a scientific visit, we had the opportunity to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The museum showcased the horrific effects of weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear weapons. We appreciate the Japanese government for sharing their knowledge and experiences with us, not just about nuclear accidents and incidents but also about modern technologies and scientific advancements. I want to express my gratitude to the management of the National Defence Academy and the Ilia Vekua Sukhumi Institute of Physics and Technology for nominating me and for their unwavering support”, said Tornike Kimeridze, assistant professor of the National Defence Academy.
