An event dedicated to Defence Forces Day was held at the parade ground of the National Defence Academy. During the ceremony, the Comander of the Academy, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze, addressed the personnel and congratulated them on the anniversary: “Officers, sergeants, corporals, privates, Junkers, trainees, ladies and gentlemen, I congratulate you on the 35th anniversary of the Georgian Defence Forces! This is a day of great pride for each of us and for all of Georgia.
Since their inception, the Georgian Defence Forces have stood firmly in guard of our country’s security and sovereignty. Their professionalism, courage, and dedication are the main pillars of our state’s peace and stability. Every service member and civilian employee, through their daily dedication, proves that defending the homeland is a matter of the highest honor and responsibility.
We take great pride in the Academy’s exceptional contribution to the development of the Defence Forces. We are cultivating professional officers who uphold military traditions with dignity and stand ready to serve Georgia. The strength of the Defence Forces lies in a highly educated, disciplined, and patriotic officer corps. The Academy is the very place where this state-oriented leadership is forged.
Through education, discipline, and love for the homeland, a Junker is transformed into an officer of the Defence Forces and a symbol of our nation’s strength. Quality military education is the foundation of a resilient state. The National Defence Academy remains committed to raising distinguished leaders for our country’s defence.
Today is a recognition of the selfless dedication shown daily by every officer, sergeant, soldier, and civilian employee. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our veterans—those whose experience and devotion to the homeland have built a strong foundation for future generations. I would also like to express my deepest respect for our wounded warriors, who continue to serve within the Defence Forces and are joining us today for this significant occasion.
Today, we once again pay tribute to the fallen heroes whose ultimate sacrifice has brought us to this day. It is our sacred duty to carry on their legacy with honor and utmost professionalism.
I honor the memory of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our homeland in the battles for territorial integrity and in international peacekeeping missions.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defense Forces, and the entire personnel of the Ministry and the Defence Forces for their constant support and high trust which led to the institutional development of the Academy, both in military and academic, social and infrastructural directions. Furthermore, I want to thank every member of the Academy staff, the military instructors, the academic and visiting faculty, as well as our cadets and listeners, for your loyal and tireless dedication.
I wish you every success in your service to our nation. Once again, Happy Defence Forces Day!”
Within the framework of the event, military personnel and civilian staff of the Academy were presented with commemorative gifts and certificates of honor for their distinguished service.
