This year, Assistant Professor Nino Gabinashvili of the Defense and Security Bachelor's Program at the National Defence Academy, along with third-year Junkers Salome Narimanidze, Nata Okropiridze-Gorgiashvili, and Parmen Garsidze, participated in the 24th Law of Armed Conflict Competition in Sanremo, Italy. The event was organized by the International Institute of Humanitarian Law.
The annual competition aims to familiarize future military leaders with International Humanitarian Law and to foster the ability to operate effectively within a multinational environment.
A profound knowledge of the Law of Armed Conflict is vital for any service member, particularly for officers, as they bear the ultimate responsibility for ensuring compliance with legal norms during armed conflicts. Consequently, participating in this competition represents both an invaluable experience and a significant challenge. Furthermore, the competition provides a platform to establish lasting bonds between future Georgian and international officers.
A key highlight of the event was the cultural evening, where Academy representatives had the opportunity to showcase Georgian culture and traditions while engaging with the diverse heritage of other participating nations.
