National Defence Academy of Georgia is 107 years old

David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia is 107 years old. To celebrate Academy Day, a graduation ceremony for the 12th undergraduate class and the 21st candidate course was held on the parade ground. The Minister of Defence of Georgia, Irakli Chikovani, the Chief of Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili, and the commander of the Academy, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze, congratulated the personnel, Junkers, and course participants on their successful graduation. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of the National Defence Academy and the role of young officers in strengthening Georgia's defence capabilities.

This year, 74 Junkers graduated from the Bachelor's programs, while 28 course participants completed the Junior Officer Training School's Candidate Course. Along with the rank of lieutenant, the graduating Junkers were awarded a bachelor's degree in their respective fields. The Officer Candidate Course Participants, who already held a bachelor's degree before enrollment, received initial military officer education.

The history of the National Defence Academy of Georgia dates back to 1918, following the restoration of Georgia's state independence. Immediately after independence was declared, training national officer cadres became a top priority. The "Junkers' Military School" began operating on August 20, 1919. This very date was designated as the Academy Day of the David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia.
