Training “Integrating a Gender Perspective and the Women Peace and Security Agenda into the Security Sector”

The three day training “Integrating a Gender Perspective and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda into the Security Sector” is continuing at NDA.

The second day of the training was opened by the UN Woman Programme Manager, Ms. Tamar Tavartkiladze. She talked about acquiring the knowledge and understanding of the international framework on Women, Peace and Security and its implication at the country level.

Regional Expert of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) in south Caucasia, Mr. Gia Toradze discussed the principles of humanitarian law, protection of civil population and military personnel conduct in armed conflicts.

Advisor to NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security, Ms. Irene Fellin introduced the NATO policies on Women, Peace and Security. Deputy Gender Advisor Operations SHAPE, Mr. Werner Racky discussed the lesson learned and challenges from the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and related resolutions by NATO Headquarters and in its Command Structure.

The last part of the training was dedicated to the film “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” screening, which describes the real story of Liberian women and how grassroots peace activism can change the regime.
