“Trainers’ Training on Gender Issues” is held at National Defence Academy. Deputy Defence Minister Ana Dolidze attended the international seminar. While delivering speech she emphasized the gender equality in Defence Ministry.
The international seminar aims to prepare trainers who hold the courses to the military and civilian personnel, particularly in pre-deployment exercises. The attendees will master in the methodology of planning, conducting and evaluation of the trainings on gender issues. The course includes the following main topics: gender issues in international operations – UN Security Council Resolutions in the issues of Women, Peace and Security, NATO Bi-SC Directive 40-1, sexual violence during the armed conflicts, take into account gender issues in peacekeeping operations and reforming process of security sector and etcetera.
The course is conducted within the bilateral cooperation plan with Sweden and carried out by the “Gender Scandinavian Center in Military Operations”. Norwegian, Finn and Swedish instructors lead the seminar. The experts from the Netherlands, UK, Macedonia and Montenegro also participate in the training. 14 representatives from Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Denmark participate in it. The MoD employees working on gender equality issues also attend the training. At the end of the course the attendees will receive certificates.
