International Conference opened at the National Defence Academy

Davit Agmashenebeli National Defence Academy has hosted an international conference on military education issues. Topics of discussion at the conference included identifying the role of military education in regional and international cooperation and developing and deepening bilateral partner relations in this area. 

Among the guests of the conference were deputies of Defence Minister Nodar Kharshiladze and Andro Barnovi, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia Celeste Wallender, representatives of European countries` military institutions and Diplomatic Corps, international and non-governmental organizations, as well as the members of Georgian legislative and executive authorities. National Defence Academy, Military University of North Georgia (the US state) and Defence University of the Czech Republic concluded the Memorandum of Understanding. Henceforth, the similar type of conference will be arranged annually. 

Today, within the framework of the conference attendees have taken a view of the National Defence Academy which opened on September 16. The rehabilitated complex of military institution is equipped with block of flats, canteen, conference hall, entertainment center, sport hall, swimming pool, sport squares of closed type, training buildings, library, infirmary and administrative facility. The students are also provided with adequate material-technical base of international standards, housing conditions, nutrition, uniform and medical service. Academy graduate will be granted with Bachelor’s degree and military rank of Lieutenant. Trainees will be prepared in the areas of infantry, logistics, tank, mechanization, artillery, aviation, air defence, and communications.  

Bachelors programs are taught by means of the two schools: Technical-Sciences School allowing students to major in the construction of airdromes and highways and information technologies; Business and Management School specializing in the following areas: general management, logistics and expediting. Besides, the Academy will have Master’s Department. It is also planed to send excellent students to the international-level high educational institutions under the exchange program.

Education at the Academy is fully financed by the Defence Ministry. Up to 150 applicants entered the military institution. They have already undergone five-week long basic physical and military (field) trainings.
