Afghan official in the National Defence Academy

Abdul Ali Shamsi, Principal Security Advisor to Helmand Provincial Governor is paying an official visit to Georgia.  The Afghan official has come to the Davit Agmashenebeli National Defence Academy and met with military servants and Academy attendees. Abdul Ali Shamsi extended his gratitude to the Georgian military for their contribution to the security of the region. He stressed the importance of Georgia’s participation in the ISAF mission and briefed about the situation in Helmand.

“Within the ISAF security mission Georgia has made an enormous contribution to the safety and stability of Afghanistan and their population. Thanks to the Georgian Armed Forces living conditions for the local inhabitants became more secure. We express our deep sympathy and respect for those Georgian soldiers who were injured and killed while performing the peacekeeping mission there”, said Governor’s Advisor.   

Academy student Vajha Ichqiti also commented on the significance of Georgia`s participation in the mission-“ Georgian soldiers are deployed in Afghanistan to insure the safe living environment for the ordinary people there. It is also interesting for us to get to know how Afghans themselves evaluate the mission. Afghan official’s appreciation of the GAF`s involvement in the ISAF peace support operation has impressed us, once again confirming the necessity of Georgians` deployment in the Province.

Abdul Ali Shamsi works closely with the Governor Gulab Mangal to improve security throughout Helmand province and to insure the transition of Helmad Province from International Security Assistance Force to Afghan National Security Forces authority.
