The Objectives of the Master’s Degree Program in Security Studies are to:

Prepare highly qualified professionals (officers, researchers, analysts, security specialists, etc.) for the defense and security sector, including state institutions, through the use of modern and innovative teaching methods. Graduates will possess in-depth knowledge of fundamental issues related to national security, methods for researching and analyzing existing challenges, and approaches to problem-solving.

Provide comprehensive knowledge of the key components involved in the development and implementation of national security policy, the role and architecture of the security system within the state governance system, fundamental policy documents, as well as security policy planning and decision-making processes.

 

The Master’s Degree Program in Security Studies comprises 120 ECTS credits, including:

Part I – 60 ECTS credits

Part II – 60 ECTS credits

A graduate of Part I of the Master’s Degree Program in Security Studies at the National Defence Academy is awarded the academic degree of Master of Security Studies upon completion of 60 ECTS credits, distributed as follows:

40 credits – mandatory courses in the main field of study;

20 credits – elective courses in the main field of study (the total number of credits of the elective courses offered is 50).

A graduate of Part II of the Master’s Degree Program in Security Studies at the National Defence Academy is awarded the academic degree of Master of Research in Security Studies upon completion of 60 ECTS credits, distributed as follows:

20 credits – mandatory courses in the main field of study;

10 credits – elective courses in the main field of study (the total number of credits of the elective courses offered is 20);

30 credits – Master’s thesis (the research component provided for in the educational program).
