The program's goal, in line with the mission of the LEPL David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia, is to prepare officers with higher legal education, strong ethics, high moral standards, and leadership qualities for dedicated service to the defence forces and the country. Graduates will be competitive in both local and international labor markets.
The program also aims to provide the Junkers with:
- A comprehensive understanding of the essence, structure, and fundamental principles of law, including the main features of the national legal system, various legal systems, historical sources of Georgian law, and the ethical principles that govern the activities of legal professionals (e.g., judges, lawyers, prosecutors, notaries). It will cover moral aspects of legal professions as well as key theories, principles, and features related to public, private, criminal, and international law, including the causes of legal disputes, their characteristics, and methods for resolving them through legal channels.
- The ability to identify complex and unforeseen issues within public, private, criminal, and international law, and to develop effective solutions using contemporary legal methods. The Junkers will learn to articulate their positions and conclusions on legal issues clearly, using appropriate legal terminology and adhering to ethical standards, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop legal documents, including civil and administrative agreements, procedural and enforcement acts, as well as research and practical projects in the fields of public, private, criminal, and international law according to predetermined instructions.
- Skills to determine, evaluate, and address the factual circumstances of specific cases, including the ability to select, analyze, and apply relevant norms, sources, and methods in public, private, criminal, and international law.
- Competence in assessing the factual circumstances of cases in various legal fields, implementing specific legal actions, resolving legal tasks, and developing strategies for dispute resolution.
- The ability to work ethically and professionally as a lawyer, adhering to the fundamental principles of individual and teamwork in legal proceedings while respecting legal values.
- Proficiency in searching for and identifying essential information in Georgian and/or English, including sources of national and international law, legislative updates, judicial practices, and scientific innovations, thereby ensuring continuous knowledge enhancement.
