Physical Fitness Test:
To be admitted to the Academy, candidates must pass a physical fitness test tailored to their gender and age, consisting of the following events:
1. Push-ups
2. Sit-ups
3. 3200-meter run
The assessment begins with push-ups, continues with sit-ups, and concludes with the 3200-meter run. There is a 10-15 minute rest period between each event.
Physical Fitness Requirements for Civilian Applicants
A passing score is awarded if a civilian applicant scores at least 40 points in each individual event and achieves a minimum total of 120 points across all three events.
Physical Fitness Requirements for Military Personnel
A passing score is awarded if a military applicant scores at least 60 points in each individual event and achieves a minimum total of 180 points across all three events.
Psychological Examination
During the psychological examination, the Department of Social Affairs and Psychological Support of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia primarily uses several standardized psychological assessment questionnaires.
As part of the selection and assessment process, candidates are evaluated on their personality characteristics, fluid intelligence, and, where necessary, other relevant factors. In addition to the psychological tests, each candidate undergoes a clinical interview, during which a qualified specialist conducts an individual assessment of the candidate's psychological condition. Each assessed characteristic or factor has an established threshold, and candidates whose results fall below the required standard are not recommended for admission.
The clinical interview plays a decisive role in the assessment of personality traits, with particular attention paid to emotional stability, irritability, impulsivity, emotional excitability, difficulties with impulse control, aggressiveness, and a tendency towards self-harm.
Medical Examination
Candidates undergo a medical examination at the Military Hospital, where they receive a comprehensive clinical and laboratory assessment, including a complete blood count (CBC), urinalysis, blood glucose testing, blood tests for viral infections, blood group and Rh factor determination, chest X-ray, ultrasound examinations of the abdominal cavity, urinary system, and thyroid gland, as well as electrocardiography (ECG).
Candidates are also examined by specialist physicians, including a surgeon, internist, neurologist, psychiatrist, ophthalmologist, otolaryngologist, dermatologist, cardiologist, and dentist.
In accordance with the applicable legislation, failure to meet the requirements of any single examination component will result in the candidate's disqualification from the admission process.
Special Screening
One of the prerequisites for admission to the LEPL – David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia is successfully completing the background screening process.
In accordance with the Defence Code of Georgia, a person is ineligible for military service if they are subject to ongoing criminal prosecution until a final decision is issued by the competent authority, or if they have previously been convicted of a criminal offence.
