Today, events dedicated to the memory of the Junkers who died in February 1921 were held at the National Defence Academy.
The Rector of the Academy, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze paid tribute to the memory of the fallen heroes together with the Minister of Defence, Juansher Burchuladze and the Commander of the Defence Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili.
The Minister of Defence laid a wreath at the Heroes' Memorial at the National Defence Academy.
Later, the representatives of the Defence Forces attended the presentation of the book "Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921)" at the Military Museum named after Colonel Alexander Chkheidze. The book was introduced to the representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Junkers by the authors and the representatives of the National Library. The invited guests also visited the Alexander Chkheidze Military Exhibition Space, where photos, manuscripts, Georgian weapons and equipment reflecting the history of the Academy are presented as a permanent exhibition.
At the end of the event, a performance with the participation of the Junkers of the Academy was held at the Giorgi Eristavi Professional State Drama Theater. The Junkers brought the events of February 1921 to life on stage.
The premiere of the play was attended by the leadership and staff of the Academy.
