The first international conference on distance learning

The first international conference on distance learning - Distance Learning, Challenges and Opportunities was held at the National Defence Academy on November 7-8 in mutual collaboration between the Distance Learning Center and the Norwegian Defense University College (NDUC).

Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze, Rector of the National Defence Academy, opened the conference and addressed the participants.

In order to participate in the conference, the director of faculty administration and digital department of the Norwegian Defense University College - Geir Isaksen and the dean of the Norwegian Defense University College - Saira Hamid Basit with accompanying persons paid an official visit to the National Defence Academy. The conference was also attended by the representatives of Bulgaria, Hungary and the NATO Defense College. Aaron Presnal, president of the Jefferson Institute (USA), Ulf Ginestrand, representative of the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center, Maksim Tischenko, head of the Distance Learning (ADL) Center of the National Defense University of Ukraine, Katalin Radu, representative of distance learning of the NATO Deep, and Salih Sam Kusmal, Deputy Manager of NATO e-Learning attended the conference remotely and shared their experiences.

In addition to the foreign guests, the representatives of the Defence Forces, Ministry of Defence, local educational institutions and partner agencies attended the event.

The main goal of the conference was the sharing of experiences by the participating countries and the discussion of the future perspectives of distance learning. This event will give the Academy more opportunities to introduce innovative and modern approaches to distance learning and lay the foundation for long-term partnership relations in terms of international cooperation.

At the end of the conference, the Deputy Rector of the National Defence Academy, Colonel Davit Razmadze, and the Director of the Faculty Administration and Digital Department of Norwegian Defense University College, Geir Isaksen, gave certificates to the participants of the conference.
