Today, the National Defence Academy held an opening ceremony for the monument of the Holy King Davit Aghmashenebeli, which was symbolically related to the day of commemoration of Davit Aghmashenebeli. This event marks another significant milestone in the history of the modern Academy.
The National Defence Academy of Georgia was established after Georgia regained independence and has undergone many important stages since then. On February 20, 2003, the National Defence Academy was named after the Holy King, Davit Aghmashenebeli.
At the mentioned event, Reverend Andria, the Metropolitan of Gori and Athens Diocese, conducted the service in the Davit Aghmashenebeli temple located on the territory of the National Defence Academy. The Rector of the Academy Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze attended the ceremony together with the personnel and guests of honor.
After the service, the Rector of the Academy, along with the honored guests, inaugurated the monument of Holy King David Aghmashenebeli and spoke about the achievements of David Aghmashenebeli in the history of Georgia.
At the end of the ceremony, the Rector of the National Defence Academy, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze, awarded Mr. Giorgi Darsavelidze, the author of the monument, with an honorary plaque.
During the recent period, several cultural and cognitive spaces have been established within the Academy. These new spaces aim to enhance the learning and recreational facilities, provide practical knowledge, reflect on historical events, and instill patriotic spirit.
