The voluntary military training program for reserve junior officers has commenced at the LEPL David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia for the first time. Following a competitive selection process, students in their 3rd and 4th year from various higher educational institutions nationwide, who are under 30 years old and hold a bachelor's degree, have been enrolled in the program.
The training program at the National Defence Academy will last for 2 years, in accordance with the Defence Code of Georgia. The study schedule is designed to be as compatible as possible with the schedule of civilian educational institutions. Theoretical lectures (Military Science) will take place on 3 Saturdays and 57 Sundays and will be held at the Academy. The practical component (field training) will be conducted on 8 Saturdays and 14 Sundays. Additionally, two two-week field training sessions are included in the practical component, with the first session scheduled from August 4 to August 17, 2025, and the second session scheduled from July 27 to August 9, 2026.
Upon successful completion of the program, individuals with a military obligation will be deemed to have fulfilled their national military service. Those who hold a higher education degree will receive the military rank of "Lieutenant," while those without a higher education will be awarded the military rank of "Junior Sergeant." Individuals holding the rank of "Junior Sergeant" will be eligible for the rank of "Lieutenant" upon obtaining a bachelor's degree within 5 years of program completion, provided they are under 35. Throughout the program, participants will receive a scholarship, health insurance, meals, and equipment.
