101 Junkers, who graduated from the Basic Combat Training Course of the Training Battalion of LEPL – David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia, traditionally took the military oath on the historical field of Didgori.
The Rector and the leadership of the Academy laid the foundation for this tradition. The military oath-taking event is symbolically connected with the historical victory of the Holy King David the Builder since it is David the Builder who bears the name of the National Defence Academy.
The Rector of the Academy, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze, addressed the graduates with a welcoming speech. He emphasized the importance of holding such an event at a historical site and wished them success. The Rector thanked the Junkers’ families and invited guests to the ceremony.
After enrolling at the National Defence Academy, the Junkers underwent a five-week Basic Combat Training Course. As part of the theoretical training, they were introduced to the disciplinary regulations and underwent engineering and primary medical training. At the practical training stage, the cadets studied the rules of using weapons, shooting and safety. They also had to adapt to difficult physical and psychological conditions during the Basic Combat Training Course. The graduates will continue their education at the Academy according to bachelor's programs. At the end of the oath-taking ceremony, the Rector of the Academy awarded the outstanding graduates of the Basic Combat Training Course of the Junker training battalion with “honorary certificates”, and the Academy chaplain, Dean David Kasradze, blessed them.
