On February 20, 2003, the National Defence Academy was named in honor of Saint King David the Builder. To mark the feast day of the Saint King, several ceremonial events were held at the Academy.
As part of the commemoration, the Academy’s leadership paid tribute to the memory of Saint King David the Builder and laid a wreath at his monument.
At the Saint King David the Builder Church, located on the Academy’s grounds, the Chaplain of the Academy, Father Giorgi, conducted a prayer service (Paraklesis). The service was attended by the Academy’s leadership and personnel. Upon the conclusion of the service, the Chaplain offered his blessing to all personnel in attendance.
Furthermore, Junkers of the Training Battalion performed the play "David the Builder," bringing to life key historical events of that era.
