NATO expert group visited the LEPL David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy

On September 16–17, a NATO expert group visited the LEPL David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia.

During the visit, the expert group met with the Commander of the Academy, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze. The parties discussed the Academy’s operations, quality assurance, and educational programs. The experts also toured the Academy’s infrastructure and learning environment.

The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the Academy’s operations against NATO quality assurance standards in order to secure NATO institutional accreditation.

The NATO experts assessed the Academy’s leadership and governance principles, the teaching and learning process, and the Academy’s contribution to NATO. The Academy offers both higher academic education and a "Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency" course for representatives of NATO member and partner nations.

As a result of the evaluation, the Academy was awarded a six-year, unconditional NATO institutional accreditation. This milestone confirms that the operations of the National Defence Academy are fully aligned with NATO quality assurance standards and once again underscores the Academy's significant role in international education and professional development.
