A civil funeral service for the Georgian cadets is ongoing at the Kashveti Church of St. George. The dead bodies of the privates Soso Makaridze and Besarion Gorjoladze were transferred to the church yesterday. The United States Coast Guard Academy students died in the state of New Jersey as a result of a car accident.
President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Minister of Defence Mindia Janelidze, Chief of the General Staff of the GAF Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze, the leading MoD officials and employees, the members of executive and legislative organs, as well as the United State Ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland and ordinary citizens paid tribute to the souls of the dead. They condoled to their family members and relatives and expressed sorrow over the death of the cadets.
Among the attendees of the funeral ceremony are the U.S. Coast Guard Academy delegation led by Rear Admiral David R. Callahan as well the Georgian and American friends of the Georgian students.
The civil funeral service will continue in the church till this evening. Later on, Soso Makaridze and Besarion Gorjoladze`s dead bodies will be transferred to their families. The Georgian privates will be buried with a military honor.
