Levan Izoria - “This Day is Great Achievement for Georgian Army”
Today at the National Defence Academy was held the Oath taking ceremony of the Junkers’ Battalion and Officers Candidate Training Course was held at the parade ground of Davit Agmashenebeli National Defence Academy of Georgia.
“I am always very happy and feel myself proud when I visit the Academy – the place where future officers and defenders of Georgia, the intellectual personnel of our army are brought up. Thank everybody as you have chosen this profession which serves our motherland and protection of each citizen. You are the graduate of the institution named after Davit Agmashenebli. You continue the tradition to develop our state, the tradition which was launched by a little, but proud and brave nation centuries ago”, stated President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili.
Defence Minister congratulated the juveniles on the graduation and named them as great achievement for the Georgian army. While addressing them, Levan Izoria underlined the responsibility that young officers have to bear from today: “This day is great achievement for the Georgian army. Being an officer – is a great responsibility which you bear with great energy. You have to take this responsibility not only for your families, friends but also for our country. I am sure you will take this responsibility honorably with the qualification you gained here in the Academy. Our strength and development depends on institutional direction, but defence strengthening depends on improvement of defence institutions which is staffed by qualified, brave officers as you are”.
Chief of General Staff of the GAF, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze and acting as Rector of National Defence Academy, LTC Vasil Kopeikin congratulated the juveniles on the graduation of the Academy and outlined that the young officers corps should contribute in development process of the Georgian army.
The event continued with diploma awarding ceremony. The representatives of the President’s Administration, Secretary of National Security Council, Deputies of Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff, MoD officials, diplomatic corps accredited to Georgia, also family members and friends of the undergraduate attended the solemn ceremony.
From today the graduate are granted military rank – Lieutenant. The 4th course graduate of Cadets Battalion also were granted Bachelor’s academic degree and the graduates of Officers Preparation Candidate course mastered in officers’ basic military education.
