The Objective of the Master’s Degree Program in International Relations and Military Diplomacy

The objective of the Master’s Degree Program in International Relations and Military Diplomacy is to prepare military and civilian personnel with in-depth knowledge of the theoretical dimensions of international relations, as well as empirical experience in the field, enabling them to analyze regional and global political processes from various perspectives within a modern, changing, and unpredictable security environment. The program aims to develop the skills necessary for students to determine rational and optimal policies in pursuit of national interests in a dynamic international environment, through the effective use of diplomatic tools and situational analysis.

The Master’s Degree Program in International Relations and Military Diplomacy comprises 120 ECTS credits, including:

Part I – 60 ECTS credits

Part II – 60 ECTS credits

A graduate of Part I of the Master’s Degree Program in International Relations and Military Diplomacy at the National Defense Academy is awarded the academic degree of Master of International Relations upon completion of 60 credits, distributed as follows:

40 credits – mandatory courses in the main field of study;

20 credits – elective courses in the main field of study (the total number of credits of the elective courses offered is 40).

A graduate of Part II of the Master’s Degree Program in International Relations and Military Diplomacy at the National Defense Academy is awarded the academic degree of Master of Research in International Relations upon completion of 60 credits, distributed as follows:

20 credits – mandatory courses in the main field of study;

10 credits – elective courses in the main field of study (the total number of credits of the elective courses offered is 20);

30 credits – Master’s thesis (the research component provided for in the educational program).
